Introduction

I graduated from Loyola University Maryland with a Bachelor’s degree in History, then taught US History, World History and Geography in middle school and high school for ten years. I stopped teaching to stay home with my children, but have volunteered in various organizations over the years, including Destination Imagination and at my local church. I have also taught history and geography at several local homeschool co-ops. A few weeks ago I graduated from George Mason University with a Master’s degree in History.

Initially I was interested in teaching American History at the Community College level, but after taking a course in Museum Studies, I thought that exploring other career options would be helpful.  I joined the Digital Public Humanities cohort last summer in order to learn specific skills used in public history fields.

My goals for this course are to learn about how digital tools and applications can be used for educational and instructional purposes, and which digital tools can be most helpful in achieving specific leaning outcomes, within the areas of public history.
