Project Update

Project Update:

My topic is about the 2017 International Women’s March, and how we can use images from the march as primary sources for research about women’s history.  It is also about how we can study continuity and change by comparing the 2017 women’s march with the 1913 Suffragette Procession and parade in Washington, DC.  My intended audience is the general public.

This week I started putting together the parts of my final project on the Omeka platform. I divided the project into several parts, including a brief history of why marches take place in Washington, DC, and what outcomes came from the 2017 Women’s March. I spent time looking for new pictures and images using both the Library of Congress website, and WikiCommons, in order to find those either in the public domain or under Creative Commons licenses.

After talking with my assigned partner who reviewed what I have so far, I decided to remove the section about outcomes from the project, and focus more on using images to compare and contrast the 1913 parade with the 2017 march, including a page on looking at the fashions worn from both events. For my next steps, I need to work on these pages.
