A Brief Introduction

I attended Loyola University Maryland and received my Bachelor’s of Arts Degree in History, but was unsure of what career direction to take. Eventually I decided to teach and worked towards my 7-12 certification in Social Studies while teaching US History in a Catholic grammar school. I am currently enrolled as a graduate student at George Mason University, and will graduate this spring with a Masters Degree in History. I am also working towards a certification in Digital Humanities, in order to expand my career options.

My background in digital humanities consists of taking the Introduction to Digital Humanities course in the fall of 2023. My interest in digital public history initially came from the class Higher Education in the Digital Age, where I was introduced to many museum websites and what they have to offer.  I am also interested in seeing what career options there are with a graduate degree in History.

Because I have very little background in the field of digital public history, I hope to learn how the process works, what digital tools can be employed and how to use them, and the range of possibilities in working in the field of digital public history. I hope to gain an understanding of how to interact with the public, who the audience is, how to make connections and interactions, and how to create digital public projects and websites.
